Grizzled Edge is the smallest labelled gear set in Arknights: Endfield. Six pieces, all gold quality, all Lv.70, two for each of the three equipment slots. In our data the set sits under the suitID suit_crush_fracture, and every piece has exactly one Gear Template.
Most people meet it one item at a time. The Armor T1 and the Gauntlets both draw search on their own, and each of those pages lists a name and a few numbers without explaining the six-item group around it. This page does that, plus the one thing about the set that actually causes mistakes: the T1 pieces are not upgrades.
What Grizzled Edge is
The six records share one description, word for word: "Designed by Hongshan Swordmancers and assembled by the AIC. This equipment can improve the wearer's combat capabilities." All six are 5★, all list a Lv.70 minimum wear level, and all sit in the same internal domain grouping (domain_2), which the data does not translate into a named region.
Structurally it is as tidy as a gear set gets. Three slots, two pieces per slot, one base piece and one T1 variant in each. Nothing is missing and nothing is duplicated. Among the 23 labelled sets in the file, that is unusual, and the section on pairings below shows how unusual.
All six pieces and their rolls
Each piece carries one base value and three modifier rows. Each row starts at a value and can be enhanced three times; the numbers after the arrow are those three steps. Sorted by slot, then by variant.
| Piece | Slot | Base value | Roll 1 | Roll 2 | Roll 3 | Template |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grizzled Edge Armor | Body | 56 | 87 → 95 / 104 / 113 | 58 → 63 / 69 / 75 | 0.115 → 0.1265 / 0.138 / 0.1495 | Template |
| Grizzled Edge Armor T1 | Body | 56 | 87 → 95 / 104 / 113 | 58 → 63 / 69 / 75 | 20.7 → 22.77 / 24.84 / 26.91 | Template |
| Grizzled Edge Push Knife | Universal | 21 | 32 → 35 / 38 / 41 | 21 → 23 / 25 / 27 | 0.23 → 0.253 / 0.276 / 0.299 | Template |
| Grizzled Edge Push Knife T1 | Universal | 21 | 32 → 35 / 38 / 41 | 21 → 23 / 25 / 27 | 0.23 → 0.253 / 0.276 / 0.299 | Template |
| Grizzled Edge Gauntlets | Hands | 42 | 65 → 71 / 78 / 84 | 43 → 47 / 51 / 55 | 34.5 → 37.95 / 41.4 / 44.85 | Template |
| Grizzled Edge Gauntlets T1 | Hands | 42 | 65 → 71 / 78 / 84 | 43 → 47 / 51 / 55 | 34.5 → 37.95 / 41.4 / 44.85 | Template |
One naming detail worth knowing: three sets in the game field a knife in the universal slot. Type 50 Yinglung calls its pair "Knife", MI Security and Grizzled Edge both call theirs "Push Knife". Same slot, same job, three different labels, so searching the exact item name matters more than searching the concept.
The T1 pieces are not upgrades
This is the part that misleads people. A T1 suffix in gear names reads like a tier step, and on some pieces elsewhere in the game it does behave like one. Here it does not. Compare the two variants in each slot and the numbers are the same. What changes is which raw attribute ids those numbers are attached to.
| Piece pair | Slot | Roll ids on the base piece | Roll ids on the T1 | Same magnitudes? | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grizzled Edge Armor / Grizzled Edge Armor T1 | Body | 39 / 42 / 50 | 40 / 39 / 87 | no | third roll changes value and kind |
| Grizzled Edge Gauntlets / Grizzled Edge Gauntlets T1 | Hands | 39 / 42 / 87 | 40 / 39 / 87 | yes | identical magnitudes, all three |
| Grizzled Edge Push Knife / Grizzled Edge Push Knife T1 | Universal | 39 / 42 / 50 | 40 / 39 / 50 | yes | identical magnitudes, all three |
Read the first row carefully. Both Armor pieces have a base value of 56 and both carry rolls of 87 and 58 with the same enhancement ladders. But the base piece puts them on ids 39 and 42, and the T1 puts them on 40 and 39. The third roll is the one real difference: the base Armor rolls a fractional value of 0.115 on id 50, and the Armor T1 rolls 20.7 on id 87. That is a different id, a different magnitude, and a different kind of number.
The hands and universal pairs do not even have that. Gauntlets and Gauntlets T1 both roll 65, 43, and 34.5 on ids 39, 42, 87 against 40, 39, 87. Push Knife and Push Knife T1 both roll 32, 21, and 0.23 on 39, 42, 50 against 40, 39, 50. Identical numbers, shifted ids.
Our files do not map those ids to the attribute names the game shows you, so this page will not tell you which variant is stronger. What it can tell you is that a T1 is not "the better one" by construction. It is the same magnitude landing on a different stat, and which one you want depends on what the rest of your build already has. Read both tooltips in game before you spend materials.
Only two sets in the game are exact pairs
Take every labelled set, strip the T1, T2, and T3 suffixes off the names, and ask whether every name variant has exactly two pieces. Only two sets pass.
| Set | suitID | Pieces | Name variants | Body pieces | Universal pieces |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grizzled Edge | suit_crush_fracture | 6 | 3 | 2 | 2 |
| Mordvolt Resistant | suit_will01 | 8 | 4 | 2 | 4 |
Mordvolt Resistant (suit_will01) has four name variants across eight pieces, all paired. Grizzled Edge has three variants across six pieces, all paired. The other 21 labelled sets have at least one piece whose twin does not exist. The Frontiers set is a good example: it has an Extra O2 Tube and an Extra O2 Tube T1, but no plain O2 Tube T1 to match, as the Frontiers guide lays out.
What pairing buys you is a clean choice. In a set like Grizzled Edge you are picking between two options per slot and nothing else, where a 14-piece set asks you to compare five to six variants in the same slot with overlapping labels.
Base value is a slot constant
Almost every five-star piece in the database shares one base value per slot: 56 for body, 42 for hands, 21 for universal. That holds for 43 of 46 body pieces, 39 of 42 hands pieces, and 61 of 64 universal pieces. All nine exceptions are AIC Fieldwork gear, which sits at 48, 36, and 18.
So within Grizzled Edge the base number never moves. Body pieces are 56, hands 42, universal 21, base or T1, no exceptions. The differences between pieces live entirely in the modifier rows.
The Hongshan Swordmancers line is bigger than the set list
Grizzled Edge is not a one-off design. Counting every equipment record whose description carries the Hongshan Swordmancers credit gives 59 pieces spread across seven suit ids, and two of those groups have no suitID at all.
| Gear set or group | suitID | Pieces |
|---|---|---|
| Redeemer (8) and Rift Trekker (5) | none | 13 |
| Swordmancer | suit_phy01 | 11 |
| Type 50 Yinglung | suit_atk02 | 11 |
| Eternal Xiranite | suit_usp02 | 11 |
| Grizzled Edge | suit_crush_fracture | 6 |
| Tide Fall / Tide Surge group | suit_burst01 | 4 |
| Xiranflow | suit_expend_spell01 | 3 |
That is 46 pieces under a labelled set plus 13 under none. Redeemer and Rift Trekker carry the same designer credit and the same "assembled by the AIC" line as the rest of the line, but they have no suitID, so they never appear on the gear sets index. If you go looking for a Redeemer Armor in the set list, you will not find it. The pieces exist; the grouping does not.
The four-piece Tide Fall and Tide Surge group is the other oddity. Its four pieces carry four unrelated names (Tide Fall Light Armor, Tide Surge Gauntlets, Hanging River O2 Tube, Turbid Cutting Torch), so there is no set name to print. Our Eternal Xiranite guide covers the largest tagged set in this line; this page covers the smallest.
What the official notes say
The notes mention Grizzled Edge exactly once. The 5 June 2026 update notes for [Sketches of Lost Heirlooms] list it in a line about expanding existing sets: "Added new gear pieces to Gear Sets [Qingbo], [Swordmancer], [Grizzled Edge]."
Two things follow from the wording, and both are limits rather than answers. First, "added new gear pieces to" describes an expansion, not a debut, so the set already existed on 5 June. Second, the March 2026 notes for [Old Deep Water Dies, by Rising Tide It is Denied] list ten gear packs added to the game, and Grizzled Edge is not among them. Ten pack names were listed, including Swordmancer and Redeemer, with no mention of this set.
Those pack names are also worth a flag. Our item file has 2,655 records and not one of them is named "... Gear Pack", so the ten labels in the March notes do not correspond to item entries in our data. They read as bundle names rather than inventory items.
Our news archive starts in January 2026. Nothing in it announces the set before June, so this page does not date its first appearance. If you see a claim that Grizzled Edge arrived in a specific version, the archive cannot confirm it.
What this page cannot tell you
- Attribute names. Modifier ids are stored but not mapped to display names, so no piece here gets an attack, defence, or crit label.
- Which variant is stronger. The two pieces in each slot have the same magnitudes on different ids, and without names there is no ranking to give.
- Set bonuses. The equipment data has no set-bonus field, so this page makes no claim either way about whether Grizzled Edge grants one.
- Drop sources, drop rates, or crafting costs. Gear records have no source field, and the templates store one flat line with no ingredient list.
- Official region naming. domain_2 is an internal grouping, not a place name.
