Endfield hands out a lot of boxes. Sort through your bag after a version update and you will find things like "Arms OC: Military Grade", "Weapon Supply: Blighted Sea" and a "Designation Selection Permit" sitting next to each other, all with the same one-line description telling you to open them. They are not the same kind of item, and the names do not explain themselves.
This page covers the whole crate family in our item database: what each type is for, how you get it, and which ones we can actually say something concrete about. Where the data runs out, we say so rather than guess.
Quick orientation: weapon crates come from the Arsenal Issue, which is the weapon banner. Operator permits come from headhunting milestones and one-time progress rewards. The Crate-o-Surprise boxes come from trades. They share the word "crate" and almost nothing else.
The Arsenal Issue reward loop
Most of the confusing crates hang off a single system. The weapon banner is officially called an Arsenal Issue (older announcements called it a Limited-Time Offer, or LTO; the rules did not change). You spend Arsenal Tickets to apply for an issue, and each issue gives ten random weapons with at least one 5★ or better.
On top of the ten weapons, every issue pays a milestone bonus. The version notes for the RE-Factor banners spell out the pattern:
"Perform a total of 10 RE-Factor Issue attempts to get a bonus: the current banner's [Arms Offering Crate]×1. Perform a total of 18 RE-Factor Issue attempts to get a bonus: the current banner's Rate-UP 6★ Weapon×1. After that, for every 8 RE-Factor Issue attempts, you will alternately receive these bonuses: [Arms Offering Crate]×1 or Rate-UP 6★ Weapon×1."
So it is 10 issues for the crate, 18 for a guaranteed rate-up weapon, then a crate or another weapon every eight after that. The official reward rules add one caveat: those counters reset when the banner ends and do not carry over to the next Arsenal Issue.
An Arms Offering Crate is the bonus you collect on the way to the guaranteed weapon, and its name is simply the banner it came from. That is why the list below reads like a roll-call of past Arsenal Issues.
Every Arms Offering Crate in the data
Our item database lists sixteen, all rated six stars, all sharing the item_case_wpn_selfselect_gahca_* id prefix:

Which issue each crate comes from
Eleven of the sixteen line up exactly with an Arsenal Issue banner we can document from the official announcements, and the rate-up weapon for each is named in the same post:
| Arms Offering Crate | Comes from | Rate-up 6★ weapon |
|---|---|---|
| Arms OC: Smelting Forge | Smelting Forge Issue | Forgeborn Scathe (Sword) |
| Arms OC: Graffiti | Graffiti Issue | Artzy Tyrannical (Handcannon) |
| Arms OC: Express Delivery | Express Delivery Issue | Delivery Guaranteed (Arts Unit) |
| Arms OC: Budding Anew | Budding Anew Issue | Brigand’s Calling (Handcannon) |
| Arms OC: Scarlet Pearl | Scarlet Pearl Issue | Lupine Scarlet (Sword) |
| Arms OC: Drifting Raft | Drifting Raft Issue | Lone Barge (Arts Unit) |
| Arms OC: Smelting Fire | Smelting Fire Issue | Forgeborn Scathe (Sword) |
| Arms OC: Swift Walker | Swift Walker Issue | Delivery Guaranteed (Arts Unit) |
| Arms OC: Scarlet Knot | Scarlet Knot Issue | Amaranthine Tassel (Greatsword) |
| Arms OC: Crimson Hued | Crimson Hued Issue | Blessing of Lustrous Carmine (Polearm) |
| Arms OC: Military Grade | Military Grade Issue | Type 42: Solemn Phalanx (Arts Unit) |
The remaining five, Solid Ice, Cosmic Voice, Far Expedition, Rising Mount and Thunderous Peal, use the _c_ id block and have no matching announcement in our archive. One of them does have a related certificate item, the "Cosmic Voice Issue Cert", described as "a special Arsenal certificate", so these look like a separate set of issues rather than the limited-time banners. We have no announcement text for them, so we are not going to describe how they were earned. The 2026-09-23 RE-Factor notes also mention an "Arms OC: Tag Artist" that is not in our item data yet.
Weapon Supply boxes
The Weapon Supply boxes are the other family that hands you a weapon, and they work the opposite way. Seven of the eight state that you select the weapon you receive, in the line "Open this to select and receive one weapon provided within". Our data has eight, including the five seasonal boxes named after battle pass seasons:
| Weapon Supply Box | How it works |
|---|---|
| New Horizons Weapon Supply | Self-select; starter season |
| Curated Weapon Supply | Self-select |
| Targeted Weapon Supply | Opens to give weapons (5★); description does not say self-select |
| Weapon Supply: Awakening | Self-select; season box |
| Weapon Supply: Dark Currents | Self-select; season box |
| Weapon Supply: Wrothful Tide | Self-select; season box |
| Weapon Supply: Viridian Mont | Self-select; season box |
| Weapon Supply: Blighted Sea | Self-select; season box |
Blighted Sea is the fifth of the seasonal boxes in id order and the one the search data shows people looking for. That ordering is our reading of the internal ids, not something the data labels with a season number.
Arsenal Defense Crates
These are the gear equivalent of a weapon crate, and they are tied to operator trial events. The 1.4 Homecoming notes introduced them directly: "After the version update, completing the operator trial event will allow you to directly claim a special set of Fully Artificed Level 60 gear from the [Arsenal Defense Crate], which is well-suited for the current trial operator."
The later trial announcements repeat the wording and tell you to clear the preset-team stage, then claim it from the Event Center. Our item data only contains one operator's pair, Arsenal Defense Crate α: Rift Vigile and Arsenal Defense Crate β: Rift Vigile, for the gear set "Rift Vigile". Everything else is missing, so read them as a sample of the format rather than a full list.
Operator selection permits
These are the crates that give you an operator outright, and they are milestone rewards rather than random boxes. Our data lists three:
| Permit | What you choose from |
|---|---|
| Designation Selection Permit | Pick one 6★: Ardelia / Pogranichnik / Last Rite / Ember / Lifeng |
| Shimmering Moment Designation Permit | Pick one 6★: Laevatain / Gilberta / Ardelia / Pogranichnik |
| Shimmering Moment Token Supply | Pick one potential token: Laevatain / Gilberta / Ardelia / Pogranichnik |
The Designation Selection Permit is a one-time progress reward. The 2026-02-04 DEV notes say every player who clears the main mission "Chapter I Process I: Break the Siege" receives one, and that it lets you "designate and acquire one of the 6★ operators featured in the Basic Headhunting banner". The Shimmering Moment Designation Permit came from the Fest of Brilliance banner during At the Wake of Spring: 120 headhunting attempts on that banner earned one, and you could pick any of the four operators listed. The third item in the table gives a potential token rather than the operator.
Progression and material crates
These are the ones you open for upgrade fodder. Four are self-select and one is random:
| Crate | What it gives |
|---|---|
| Multi-Purpose EXP Selection Crate | Choose operator or weapon EXP materials |
| Multi-Purpose Breakthrough Selection Crate | Choose operator promotion or weapon tuning materials |
| Skill Up Selection Crate | Choose operator skill upgrade materials |
| Advanced Progression Selection Crate Ⅰ | Acquire one advanced progression material of your choice |
| Essence Supply EX | Random; gives essences |
The Advanced Progression Selection Crate shows up as an event and exchange reward across several versions, and the 2026-04-13 notes added a shortcut that jumps you straight to the crate screen when a skill-up or talent is missing a material.
Random and trade boxes
Last, the boxes that really are random. The Crate-o-Surprise boxes come from the exchange, the Connect-and-Win boxes are community-event prizes, and the Connect-and-Win pair is the only crate family that itemises its payouts on the item itself:
| Box | Rarity | Contents as described |
|---|---|---|
| Exchange Crate-o-Surprise [S] | 3★ | Random reward; may include Oroberyls |
| Exchange Crate-o-Surprise [M] | 4★ | Random reward; may include Oroberyls |
| Exchange Crate-o-Surprise [L] | 5★ | Random reward; may include Oroberyls |
| Cycling Crate-o-Surprise [M] | 4★ | Random reward; may include Oroberyls and Sanity Usage Permits |
| Cycling Crate-o-Surprise [L] | 5★ | Random reward; may include Oroberyls and Sanity Usage Permits |
| Connect-and-Win: Auspice | 5★ | One of Oroberyl×260 / ×280 / ×300 |
| Connect-and-Win: Luck | 5★ | Oroberyl×880 |
What our data does not cover
- We cannot list what is inside most crates. Their descriptions are a single generic line, and only the Connect-and-Win boxes spell out their contents. The Arms Offering Crates in particular never name the weapon they contain in the item data.
- The data carries no drop rates, per-crate item counts or source fields. We can say a crate exists and which family it belongs to. We cannot say which stage or shop hands it out.
- Five of the sixteen Arms Offering Crates have no matching announcement in our news archive, and the RE-Factor "Arms OC: Tag Artist" is not in the item data at all.
- Only one operator's Arsenal Defense Crate pair is in the database, so the gear crates are documented by example rather than in full.
For the weapon side of all this, including how a rate-up pool is built and what the Arsenal Exchange stocks, see the weapons guide and LTO weapon banners explained. The gear side is covered in gear sets and artificing.
Frequently asked
What is an Arms OC in Endfield? It is the Arms Offering Crate, the milestone reward from an Arsenal Issue (the weapon banner). You get one after ten issues on the current banner, then again in rotation after the guaranteed rate-up weapon at eighteen.
Do Arsenal Issue reward counters carry over? No. The official reward rules state that the counter resets when a banner ends and does not carry over to other Arsenal Issue banners.
Are Weapon Supply boxes random? Mostly not. Seven of the eight say you select the weapon you receive. The exception is Targeted Weapon Supply, whose description just says it gives weapons.
How do I get a free operator from a crate? The Designation Selection Permit is the reliable route. It is a one-time reward for clearing "Chapter I Process I: Break the Siege" and lets you pick one of five Basic Headhunting six-stars.
