Alesh is a 5★ Vanguard who fights with a Sword and channels Cryo through his Ultimate. In lore he is the Endfield Industries angler and fin vendor recruited out of the United Workers' Syndicates of Talos II, the same fishing-obsessed worker who handed the company its Popper Tactic. This guide collects his real profile data from our character database and explains what it means for building him.

Alesh is a 5★ Vanguard, so he is a tempo and utility pick rather than a headline carry. Vanguards generate resources and set the pace early, and his Cryo Ultimate gives him one elemental burst to lean on.

What Alesh's attributes point to

His attribute pair, Solidification Boost as the main stat and Combo Skill Cooldown Reduction as the sub, points to a rotation-heavy Vanguard: keep the Combo Skill cycling and let the Cryo Ultimate come back as often as possible. When you pick gear and weapons, lean toward anything that shortens skill cooldowns.

Attribute names are pulled from the game's display tables. Our database has not finished mapping every internal attribute id to a verified stat label, so treat the names above as the in-game display text rather than confirmed numeric rolls. We do not publish guessed stat values.

What weapons can Alesh use?

Alesh's weapon type is Sword, and his default weapon is Tarr 11, the 3★ starter Sword that every Sword-class operator begins with. Higher-rarity Swords are shared across Sword users, so the table below is the full Sword pool in our database. Equip the highest rarity you own that suits his rotation.

Gear and teams

Because Alesh is a Sword-using Vanguard, gear follows the general rule: match your attribute focus and don't chase rarity for its own sake. See our gear sets and artificing guide for how slots, tiers and the Artificing system work, and browse the full gear set index.

If you want to place him by faction and race in the wider cast, the races and factions guide maps every operator, and Alesh is an Anaty of the United Workers' Syndicates of Talos II.

Who is Alesh? The angler behind the eye patch

Alesh's personnel file is blunt about how he got in: he is an angler and fin vendor, hired at Endfield Industries on the recommendation of the UWST liaison known as "Seagull". He arrived with a fresh, unidentified fin for the HR assistant and summarised his whole job in one line: "Angling, but not for the roast." Evaluators logged him as a candidate for liaison and covert-ops work on the frontier.

He lost an eye along the way. His daily-routine file ends with him on the balcony, "gazing at the stars with his only eye", remembering the gang turf wars of his youth and the promise he was given along with a blade called La Estrada.

The "School of Fins" and the Popper Tactic

Alesh is the operator who proposed the Popper Tactic, named after the buoyant fishing lures that annoy big fish into striking. He used a literal version of it on a covert-ops job: two "broken-down" trucks, crates marked as firearms (they were bricks), and a looping SOS recording to bait two bandit mobs into fighting each other. When a trucker called it masterful, his answer was that he hadn't planned to see "an entire school of fins show up".

That line is the source of the school of fins phrase people search for — it is Alesh's angling metaphor, not a faction or a squad. His files also name his least favourite techniques, Drop-n-Yank and bottom angling, and close on his guiding principle: make things up and "finprovise".
